History of American Eagle HOG Chapter
Chapter Two: The Second Year
by Dave Gan
The American Eagle HOG chapter started the year 2003 with a new slate of officers. A few of them carried over in their same positions from the prior year and some carried over in new positions, but, overall, it was a new team of leaders for the chapter. The officer group was:
|
Tony Madsen |
Director |
|
Rick Sponaugle |
Assistant Director |
| Randy Todd | Treasurer |
| Cheryl Sponaugle | Secretary |
| Don Riley | Activities Officer |
| Therese Davenport | LOH Officer |
| Bill Davenport | Editor |
| Ed Underwood | Webmaster |
| Joei Madsen | Membership Officer |
| David Minick | Historian |
| Marybeth Linich | Photographer |
| Craig Hall | Head Road Captain |
| Bill Bending | Safety Officer |
Personal situations would cause Randy Todd and David Minick to end their terms prematurely. On April 1, Historian David Minick resigned and was replaced by Dave Gan. On April 25, Treasurer Randy Todd resigned and was replaced by Debi Martin.
The Chapter wasted no time in getting the New Year off to a great start by holding the first annual Brass Monkey Ride on January 1, 2003. Anticipating the possibility of inclement weather which would result in a small turnout for the ride, only thirty-five (?) patches were purchased. In reality, the day dawned with clear skies and seasonally moderate temperatures. Over eighty riders showed up to participate in the inaugural event. It was a relatively short ride through the Lewisville area and included dining stops at the homes of members Don and Karen Riley’ and Rebecca Dawson.
